As a graduate of public school and a father of 2 sons who attend public school, improving public education is one of my highest priorities. Bureaucracy has taken over our schools. Too many legislators in Jackson and Washington tell our local schools what they can and cannot teach. We must work to reduce government interference and give control back to our local school boards. Government works best when it’s closest to the people. With the growing number of learning disabilities and special needs, a cookie cutter approach to education no longer works. We need to give each school district the ability to compete with less government interference. It’s time to fund our classroom to meet the needs of our teachers and students.
